The city lies on the River Shannon, with the historic core of the city located on King's Island, which is bounded by the Shannon and the Abbey River. Limerick is also located at the head of the Shannon Estuary where the river widens before it flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Limerick is the third most populous city in the state, and the fourth most populous city on the island of Ireland. Our vision for Ireland is a society where equality and respect for the human rights of migrants are social norms. With this vision in mind we work to change the lives of migrants, change legislation and change society. Doras is an independent non-governmental organisation based in Limerick, that supports the rights of all migrants. Doras is registered as a company and has charitable status.
