Limerick City Sports Partnership (LCSP)
The aim of LSCP is to give everyone opportunities to participate in sports and physical activities, including older people, girls & women, people with disabilities and the unemployed. On LSCP’s website (www.limerickcitysports.ie) you can find information on the programs offered to these groups as well as to the general public. People receiving Job Seekers Allowance or Back to Education payments are eligible for a Link2BActive card which gives discounted rates for physical activities at a number of places. University of Limerick Sports Arena
The UL Sports Arena has a lot of facilities and different kinds of programs. They have a gym, swimming pool, pitches for soccer, rugby and GAA, fitness classes and jogging track, to name just a few. You can look at www.unversityarena.com to find out about facilities they offer and prices.
GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association)
GAA is an amateur sporting and cultural organization, focused mainly on promoting Gaelic games, such as hurling, comogie, Gaelic football, handball and Rounder. Usually children (boys and girls) start playing on GAA teams from the age of six years and upwards. You could visit the grounds of your local club at the weekend and ask somebody what teams are available for your child.

Swimming and water sports
The only beach with lifeguard in Limerick County is in Glin, Kilteery (West of Foynes on N69) but there are many swimming pools that you can visit if you would like to swim. The University of Limerick Sports Arena has a 50m swimming pool and also a number of hotels around Limerick have smaller pools. Some of these are open to the general public to use casually (pay as you go), others are members only (you have to become a member usually for at least 3 months). Members can usually also use other facilities (e.g sauna, gym, fitness classes) either without an extra charge or on discounted rates. Some of the pools you can visit:
Children, students, senior citizens and job seekers can often get discounts so remember to ask about it!
