Local transport
There are two bus service providers in Limerick city, Bus Éireann and Eurobus. Every route either goes through Limerick Centre or has its final destination there. Bus Éireann has 3 kinds of single tickets: for adults, for students and for children. Eurobus has 3 kinds of single tickets as well: for adults, for juniors (under 16 years) and for school students in uniforms. Children under 3 years travel for free.
Single tickets can be used for one trip only. Eurobus offers also Multi-Trip Tickets and Bus Éireann have day saver and weekly and monthly passes. You buy your ticket from the bus driver when you get on the bus. Keep your ticket for time of the journey.
Everyone aged 66 and over, living permanently in Ireland, can travel for free under the Department of Social Protection Free Travel scheme. Some people under 66 can also travel for free. If you qualify for it, you get a pass that you must carry with you when using public transport. In some cases, a free companion pass may be available to allow a person to accompany the free travel pass holder.

Long-distance transport
